Dear colleagues,
I would like to address you in any walkway of Medicine, the surgeon as much as the homoeopath.
Let us face the simple truth:
We are not producing good results!
An estimated average success rate of 25% is pretty poor.
I refer to ‘success’ in efficient steps taken towards HEALTH, not in ‘dis-ease-management’ terms.
There are a fair few factors contributing to the poor outcome-this cannot be discussed here in depth!
However, 3 factors come to my mind immediately:
1. ECONOMICS
huge, unspeakable profits are made out of disease-NOT out of HEALTH
Globally AND individually!!!
We have talked about the ‘diseases-management industry’ as the big earners.
But also the small ones contribute:
DO NOT TRUST A HEALTH PRACTITIONER, WHO WANTS TO SEE YOU OFTEN!!!
In the old times in China, 3000 years ago, the times of ‘TCM’, Traditional Chines Medicine,
a doctor was payed by the HEALTHY persons in his community……………………………..
2.MEDICAL SCIENCE
The early pioneers in medicine made big progress in the battle against ACUTE disease.
BUT:
In our daily practice we see less than 25% ACUTE problems.
This figure roughly matches our ‘success’ rate.
CHRONIC DISEASE, however, obeys different laws.
A change of paradigm might be a good idea…
3.PERSONAL BOUNDARIES
“If you only have a hammer, every problem will look like a nail.”
Or:
Any therapist should always be a tiny little bit healthier than their healthiest patient!
Judge your psychotherapist by this rule, the ‘child services’, your GP.
Nobody is perfect!
No therapist has to be enlightened to help others.
BUT:
Every therapist needs to know their boundaries!
Many of us would agree that, in the hunt for ever more detailed information and ever more specific specialization we have certainly gained many skills…and lost the overview.
Medicine as a whole is about to miss the forest for the trees.
But, I am convinced that we would only need to take a few steps, to slightly change our paradigms… in order to make use of all our beautiful skill, in order to make sense of all this information, in order to…eventually raise our success rate…
Imagine a success rate of 75%-measured in HEALTH units!
I am sure that it could be a very useful step for every doctor and health practitioner
